Construction activity continues to advance across multiple areas of Riverwalk, with meaningful progress on residential, retail, and infrastructure components of the community.
Current Activity
The Becker
Construction is progressing with framing underway and exterior systems beginning installation. This phase will deliver 190 affordable homes, with first residences anticipated in July 2027.
Tenant interest lists for all rental housing will open in 2027. Those who are looking for affordable housing now can go to www.wakelandhdc.com/leasing-information for other properties.
The Village at Riverwalk
Concrete work is nearing completion, with framing expected to begin in Summer 2026. The Village will include 721 apartment homes and approximately 75,000 square feet of restaurants, retail, and a neighborhood-serving grocer.
Residential and retail openings are planned between February and December 2028. Leasing discussions are ongoing, with updates to be shared as available.
Townhomes at Riverwalk
Early site work is underway, including soil import and initial grading. This phase will deliver 276 for-sale townhomes and a 1.5-acre public park, with first homes anticipated in 2028. We will have details on home sales and timing toward the end of 2026.
Riverwalk Trolley Station
Planning continues for a future MTS Green Line station, which will connect Riverwalk to Downtown San Diego and Snapdragon Stadium. The station is expected to open alongside The Village.
Golf Course & Future Park
The Riverwalk Golf Course remains open and will be for the next 7-10 years. Over time, it will transition into a 95-acre public park as future phases are implemented.

Over the coming months, neighbors can expect:
- Continued vertical construction at The Becker
- Transition to framing at The Village
- Expanded grading and infrastructure work at the Townhomes
