Houston-based Hines and partner the Levi-Cushman family continue to make progress on the 195-acre Riverwalk mixed-use development in San Diego. The developers envision transforming Mission Valley’s Riverwalk Golf Club into a $2.5 billion live-work-play village along the San Diego River.

The transit-oriented development at 1150 Fashion Valley Rd. would include 4,300 apartments and condos, 152,000 square feet of retail space and a million square feet of office space at full build-out in 2035. The project would include 100 acres of open space with trails, bikeways and pedestrian walkways.

The master-planned project would be built in three phases and includes a mix of mid-rise buildings and public amenities across four districts. A light-rail station will be built for San Diego’s existing green trolley line.

The project’s EIR is under review, with a late September City Council vetting expected. The development team anticipates breaking ground on the project early next year.
