We’re proud to be a ticket sponsor for this year’s Voice of San Diego’s Politifest, which focuses on housing and transportation. Since we’re building San Diego’s first true, transit-oriented village – Riverwalk in Mission Valley – Politifest seems like a great match for us.
On Saturday, October 26, we’ll be stationed in front of the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice building at University of San Diego. Come see us anytime between 12:30 and 4:30 p.m.
Our sponsorship specifically funds Politifest admission fees for those experiencing homeless or financial hardship. We’re supporting Voice of San Diego’s efforts to give everyone a voice in discussions on housing and transportation issues important to San Diegans.
As an event sponsor, we’ll have a display table, so it’s a great chance for you to stop by and learn more about Riverwalk and our plans to create an inclusive, transit-oriented village.
We’re eager to share our vision for making transit a front-door experience by incorporating a new, beautiful trolley station in the heart of Riverwalk’s village. With the upcoming addition of the MTS blue line, Riverwalk’s residents and neighbors will be able to travel by trolley from Riverwalk’s green line station to most of San Diego’s major employment and recreation destinations.
Riverwalk will also include a sustainably designed office campus. Imagine walking out your front door and not needing a vehicle because you’re walking through a park to get to work!
At a time when San Diego faces a housing and an affordability crisis, we’re creating homes for about 8,000 people. Of the 4,300 units we plan to build at Riverwalk, approximately 400 will be set aside for low-income qualified residents.
In addition to homes, offices and a new trolley station, Riverwalk will include a grocery store and shops. Over 50% of the development will be set aside as parks and open space. We’re also restoring a long stretch of the San Diego River, which will complete a key section of the San Diego River Trail and improve flood control.
The San Diego family who owns the Riverwalk land spent many years searching for and selecting a partner that shared the vision of creating something special for San Diego – of creating a legacy project. We at Hines take our partnership with the Levi-Cushman family very seriously. We’re all passionate about developing a beautiful, smart, transit-oriented village San Diegans will value.
